Sarah Seifer is an average-looking, healthy young teenager who is unhappy with her appearance. In private fantasies, she sees herself in unflattering terms that bear no relationship to reality or to wher friends' perceptions of her. When she develops a crush on Matthew, a cute boy at school, her dissatisfaction with her appearance becomes even more acute. Then, one day, while Sarah is critiquing herself in the girl's room mirror, a strange light appears. Before she knows what's happening, she's falling, Alice-like, through the mirror, and finds herself in the high-fashion, hyper-real world of Glam Land. Instead of white rabbits and mad hatters, Sarah encounters crazed aerobics enthusiasts, glamorous models, and other denizens in pursuit of the artificial or unattainable. It's the beginning ot her journey towards truth and self-acceptance. An engaging and imaginative treatment of a serious subject, Take Another Look is designed to help children and teens, especially girls aged 10 to 13, to achieve a sense of self-respect.
