Jack Mitchell is a man trying to survive in a woman's world. From the time he gets up in the morning to prepare his wife's breakfast until the end of the day, he is subject to the prejudices and small harassments that come with being the subordinate gender in an unequal society. Women whistle at him on the street; at a job interview he loses out to a less qualified applicant when he won't play with his female interviewer; and then there's the line at the men's room. A clever social satire in which everyday stereotypes and roles are reversed, Equal Opportunity demonstrates the arbitrariness and absurdity of sexual inequality. It offers an entertaining, yet serious, look at a controversial subject, with lessons for both male and female viewers - though they might not see things in exactly the same way.
