This instructive and entertaining film provides a realistic introduction to the workings of the judicial branch of the U.S. Government. A young reporter narrates her newspaper's journey to the Supreme Court in appeal of the government's injunction against a controversial article. When the newspaper initially loses in a lower court, the case is brought before the U.S. Court of Appeals and then a petition is filed for a hearing before the highest court in the land. In addition to demonstrating the workings of the courts, the film also allows students to consider complex questions surrounding the First Amendment guarantee of free speech.
