Perhaps the most important aspect of play is its ability to bring us together, to connect us. Play strengthens the bond between parent and child; it creates lifelong friends on the playground; it binds our communities together through celebrations, festivals and sporting events. Play helps all of us to belong. In the final episode, we experience the deeply personal nature of play. In New Orleans, we celebrate with the Mardi Gras Indians; in New Mexico we watch abused wolf pups regain their natural instinct to play; and in an orphanage in El Salvador, physician and clown Patch Adams shows us the power of play to transcend and heal.
