In March 1991, Metropolitan Home magazine organized its second ShowHouse, a benefit to raise funds for DIFFA (Design Industries Foundation for AIDS). Metropolitan Home ShowHouse 2 brought together inspired talents to transform a Manhattan town house into a showplace. This sparkling film documents the preparations of the ShowHouse, which contains rooms designed by a collection of creative individuals including fashion designer Geoffrey Beene, Architect Robert A.M. Stern, film production designer Richard Sylbert for Madonna, author Tom Wolfe, Chez Panisse owner/chef Alice Waters, The New Basics cookbook authors Sheila Lukins/Julee Rosso, designers Adam Tihany and Jed Johnson/Alan Wanzenberg, artists Kenny Scharf and Daniel Mack/Bennett Bean, and floral designer Pure Mädderlake. A visual feast for lovers of interior design, the film is also a testament to the creative community’s dedication to the fight against AIDS.
