Antonia celebrates the determination and accomplishments of a musical pioneer who broadened the criteria for success as a woman and an artist in America. In 1930, at the age of twenty-eight, Antonia Brico stepped up to the podium of the Berlin Philharmonic and became the first woman to conduct what at the time was considered the world's greatest orchestra. In this landmark 1974 film, singer/songwriter Judy Collins and filmmaker Jill Godmilow filmed the pioneering orchestra conductor in Denver, where she lived and worked for 30 years.
